E.R. Nunn Scholarship Fund
The best extension of your IT department imaginable. Time to take your software business to the cloud? The experts at Wizmo are here to guide you the whole way. The E.R. Nunn Scholarship Fund, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation formed in January of 1995, award grants to students who best exemplify the positive characteristics championed by mentor Edward Raymond Nunn (1910 - 1993), a heroic classroom teacher. Named in honor of this beloved Birmingham educator, this scholarship recognizes the sound ideals emphasized by Nunn. "Fess," as Nunn was known affectionately to students and faculty at Minor High School, encouraged students to value community involvement and philanthropy as well as academic subjects like science and mathematics. He encouraged students to achieve in spite of overwhelming obstacles. During his long tenure in the classroom, Mr. Nunn emphasized the importance of science and mathematics, inspiring many students to pursue careers in medicine, engineering and education. Mr. Nunn believed in achievement in spite of overwhelming social and economic obstacles. The Powderly Community Redevelopment Committee is the major fund-raising component of the E.R. Nunn Scholarship Fund, Inc. Through the sale of new, affordable, quality single-family homes constructed on selected lots in the Powderly Neighborhood of Birmingham, one of the city s oldest, the revitalization and restoration of the community loved by Mr. Nunn, will happen. From the proceeds, the Committee will fund academic scholarships to selected students. These students, who may not otherwise get the chance, will be able to attend any of our nation s universities, colleges or military service academies.
