EMBRACE HOPE EQUINE ASSISTED THERAPY INC

Embrace Hope – Sandy Hook Equine Assisted Therapy Foundation provides equine-facilitated psychotherapy programs to address issues related to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), grief, anxiety and depression in children and adolescents. Equine therapy is tremendously successful with children because horses and children often have an affinity for each other. Horses provide a challenge in size and strength; in order to work effectively together, the child must overcome fears and modify their behavior to get the desired results. Horses also provide a profound catalyst for healing. Our mental health clinicians are able to organize activities to foster that healing. Through these activities the horses provide an opportunity to re-establish trust, boost self-esteem and give the comfort and companionship needed in the healing process.Through Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) and Zoar Ridge Stables, equine assisted psychotherapy was provided immediately for those in need, free of charge to the children who survived the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. In the months since the tragedy, Embrace Hope-Sandy Hook Equine Assisted Therapy Foundation was established with a resident EAGALA certified mental health practitioner that specializes in child psychology and trauma. Embrace Hope became an approved 501c3 organization in 2014.PROGRAMS YOUR DONATIONS SUPPORT: The Foundation has expanded services beyond therapy sessions to include emotional/social development programs that utilize horses and farm animals to reestablish trust and relationships. It is the Foundation's goal to continue to provide equine assisted therapy programs free of charge for years to come. Donations are needed to support the programs
