May is Mental Health Awareness Month. At Canines for Service, we honor and support the mental health journeys of our nation’s Veterans every day. Many of the heroes we serve are living with service-connected PTSD, military sexual trauma, traumatic brain injuries, and mobility limitations. For them, the battle doesn’t end when they come home—it just changes. That’s where our service dogs come in. Trained with love, precision, and purpose, these incredible canines become more than companions—they are lifelines. They offer grounding during anxiety attacks, wake Veterans from nightmares, provide mobility support, and bring renewed confidence and independence—all at no cost to the Veteran. Mental health matters. So does the bond between a Veteran and their service dog. This month, and every month, we serve to remind our warriors that healing is possible—and they don’t have to walk that road alone. (fb)
