In the early 2000s, Child & Family Service transformed through bold innovation and unwavering community support. A major development, the House of Hope, opened in 2009 through the vision of Kathy Inouye, Bert Kobayashi, and our Board—providing domestic violence survivors with up to two years of transitional housing and comprehensive services to heal and build independent lives. That same year, we launched what would become the renowned CFS Fall Gala. This creative fundraising tradition has since raised over $8.5 million and welcomed more than 2,600 new supporters to our mission. The Gala embodies what makes our work possible: a community that believes in creating safe spaces where Hawaiʻi families can thrive. Through innovative solutions and the power of community partnership, we continue strengthening families across our islands. Mahalo for being part of this journey of hope and transformation. Together, we can ensure that every family in Hawaiʻi has the resources they need to thrive. Learn more about our vision at https://www.childandfamilyservice.org/aboutus/. (fb)

In a recent news feature, our CEO Amanda Pump discusses the complex factors contributing to underreported child abuse cases across our islands and emphasizes the importance of preventative intervention. Hawaiʻi lawmakers have responded by amending Senate Bill 281, which codifies child torture as a Class A felony to better protect our most vulnerable keiki. For more information about this important legislation and its impact, read the full article at https://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/2025/04/22/hawaii-news/hawaii-lawmakers-still-working-on-torture-bill/ (fb)
