From Democracy Forward: The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California San Francisco Division today issued a preliminary injunction that will block the administration’s unlawful reorganization of the federal government while the case proceeds. The coalition behind the case, which includes nationwide labor unions, non-profit organizations, and cities and counties in California, Illinois, Maryland, Texas, and Washington, released the following statement in response to the decision: “The Trump administration’s unlawful attempt to reorganize the federal government has thrown agencies into chaos, disrupting critical services provided across our nation. Each of us represents communities deeply invested in the efficiency of the federal government – laying off federal employees en masse and reorganizing government functions haphazardly does not achieve that. We are gratified by the court’s decision today to pause these harmful actions while our case proceeds.” Read more: https://buff.ly/OFizjxz (fb)

In the spring of 2025, we granted $165,000 to lawsuits fighting for economic, environmental, racial, and social justice. These cases include efforts to challenge a proposed factory farm in Oregon, recognize children’s constitutional climate rights in Canada, and ensure equal access for transgender students in South Carolina. “Today, in the midst of attacks on vulnerable communities and our environment, it is more important than ever to fund the lawsuits fighting back against greed and discrimination. We’re grateful to be supporting our grantees’ critical work,” said Impact Fund Executive Director Lindsay Nako. Learn more: https://buff.ly/jGfTi84 (fb)
