Social Mobility Project Inc
A career-development program for top-performing, first-generation college students from low-income families. We strive to elevate students who may lack the financial resources and family-based networks that help some of their college classmates advance. The Upward Project helps first-generation college students from low-income families take full advantage of the career opportunities afforded by attending a selective college or university. Our work is based on the observation that simply attending a competitive school does not guarantee access to these opportunities. To improve access, we provide ambitious students with financial resources and career development training. We guide students through the on-campus recruiting process, help them cultivate valuable professional networks, and teach them how to position themselves for careers in competitive fields. We strive to elevate students who are talented and driven but may lack the financial resources and family-based networks that help some of their college classmates advance.

We’re excited to share that The Upward Project will be presenting at the Suffolk University Career Equity Conference this November. 🎉 Our session will focus on how employers can create equitable, affirming, and high-impact internship experiences for young professionals, specifically from underrepresented backgrounds. Drawing from our work with Scholars and employer partners, we’ll offer practical tools for inclusive onboarding, mentorship, and supervision that strengthen both intern success and organizational culture.
