When Abhay Kadkol graduates this year with a degree in psychology (and a business minor), he'll be ready to explore a career in Canada. 🇨🇦 The fourth-year student was born and brought up in Bangalore, India and moved to Canada four years ago to attend UVic. Abhay chose UVic because of its impressive psychology faculty and its strong research standing amongst other Canadian universities. As he prepares to graduate, he's excited to pursue a career in organizational behaviour and human resources. When he heard about UVic's Build a Career in Canada event through UVic's Career Services, which brought international alumni and employers to campus to share their experiences navigating the Canadian job market, he signed up right away. "This was a way to network and connect with professionals in fields that I was interested in. It was really great to hear from a diverse panel of speakers, most of whom have faced the struggle of finding a job in Canada as immigrants. There was a lot of sharing of ideas on how to navigate the current job market with limited Canadian work experience." "My biggest take away from the event was the importance of networking as an international student. I learned that the actual task of applying for the job itself is only one piece of the puzzle.
