Second Home Learning Center
A safe place to learn and grow, supporting academic success, and helping K-7th grade children recognize their potential! A low-barrier, licensed agency since 2007, “we provide children with a safe place to learn and grow, offer support that ensures academic success, and strive to have each child recognize their potential. We envision a community where all children are afforded the same opportunities to thrive, and barriers of poverty and difference are overcome. We respect the value and potential of every child, and seek to model the positive social interactions we want our youth to exhibit. We recognize our children are parts of families, and we engage those families as partners.” During the before and after school, and out of school hours we engage K - 6th grade students from Harrisonburg City Public Schools in extended learning and enrichment, and provide social - emotional development opportunities.

Welcome to Second Home Our Future Grows Here Second Home provides a community where children can thrive and reach their full potential. Our primary focus is to serve homes where English may not be the first language and financial resources are limited. The program is staffed by caring educators and volunteers who provide daily snacks academic enrichment and assistance with homework. Best of all no family is ever turned away due to financial need.
