Artificial reefs are human-made structures intentionally placed on the seafloor to enhance marine habitats and ecosystems. They create new or improve existing habitats, providing shelter and spawning grounds for fish, corals or other marine life. Artificial reefs can increase biodiversity in areas where natural reefs have been lost or degraded.
