“As a mother, nothing is harder than being told you can only save one of your children. Both my sons, Arsalan and Ghulam Rasool, were suffering from kidney failure. My husband and I decided to each donate a kidney—one to each child. But when tests showed he wasn’t a match, the choice fell to me. I couldn’t choose between them. That’s when Ghulam, the elder brother, made the impossible decision for me. He asked me to save Arsalan. I gave him my kidney. Today, Arsalan and I are doing well. Ghulam is still on dialysis, but we’re holding on to faith and to hope.” At SIUT, we see stories like this every day—of parents making unimaginable sacrifices, and of children still waiting for their chance to heal. The SIUT North America CT Chapter participated in the CT APPNA Conference held on May 3rd, 2025, where Mr. Rizwan Mumtaz , Associate Director of SIUTNA, presented the wonderful achievements of SIUTNA to the community by setting up a booth and providing information on the mission and ongoing initiatives of the organization. Attendees were given insights into the life-saving work being done by SIUT as a complete health care system and as well as the impact of donor support. The event served as an excellent opportunity to engage with the Pakistani-American medical community, build awareness, and strengthen support for SIUT's humanitarian efforts. (fb)
