APA exists to ensure the conservation and sustainability of the park for all New Yorkers. APA advocates for green and open space, with a keen eye on environmental issues. We create free, public programming that reflects the cultural diversity of our community and meets the needs of New York City park users. We maintain a close relationship with our fellow park leaders, facilitating communication with the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation. Donor support allows APA to buy new flowering bulbs and bushes for the park, garbage bags and tools for shoreline cleanups, paint and materials for covering graffiti, host movie nights, live music, festivals, and so much more!

Astoria Park Alliance will present the box office smash hit Wicked, as our seventh annual Spring movie screening in Astoria Park. “APA Presents Movies Under the Stars” was born out of a desire to schedule a screening for the late spring, with its perfect weather for a night in the park. A weekend evening was specifically targeted along with a title that would be appealing to an adult audience.
