AWARE is a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization. AWARE sponsors provide spay/neuter vouchers for cats and dogs in our service area of Chowan, Gates and Perquimans counties in NC and partner with the state of NC to manage a special program for low-income residents. The organization also supports the Tri-County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center in our service area to assist in the medical care and transport of adoptable animals to rescue groups and shelters. Promotes humane principles and educates the public on responsible pet ownership.

AWARE is a private 501c3 nonprofit corporation devoted to promoting control of animal overpopulation by sponsoring effective spayneuter programs in our service area and working to increase the save rate at the TriCounty Animal Shelter and Adoption Center Tyner NC. We are Making a Difference. Since our beginning in July 2009 and through June 2024 our programs have contributed to the spay or neuter of 1764 dogs and 4040 cats.
