Overview

The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) is a U.S. nonprofit 501(c)(6) trade association dedicated to representing and advocating for the interests of travel advisors and the travel industry. Originally founded on April 20, 1931, as the American Steamship & Tourist Agents Association, the organization has evolved over time, becoming the American Society of Travel Agents in 1944 and finally adopting its current name in 2018 to reflect the evolving role of travel professionals from booking agents to trusted advisors.

Mission

ASTA's mission is to facilitate the business of selling travel through effective representation, shared knowledge, and the enhancement of professionalism. It acts as the leading advocate for travel advisors and the entire travel agency community, including suppliers and the traveling public.
