#OTD May 22, 1971, in a ceremony on the University of Texas at Austin campus, the fifth presidential library in the U.S. was dedicated. The LBJ Presidential Library houses the official records of U.S. President Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ), a native of the Texas Hill Country. Celebrities, dignitaries, and the sitting president at the time, Richard Nixon, were in attendance. The library houses millions of documents, thousands of photos and hours of recordings relevant to LBJ. This photo from the dedication features President Nixon (left) and LBJ (right) waving to the crowd. Image: LBJ and Richard Nixon, May 22, 1971, Austin. Lyndon B.
