Last week we proudly hosted our Community Lactation Specialist Education Week! Our hearts were full to be in community together learning about lactation, community, and resilience. The cohort included 25 folks from diverse backgrounds and represents our broad-reaching partnerships. We welcomed medical professionals, birth workers, midwives, herbalists, mommas, parents, grandparents, and babies. We are wholeheartedly grateful to the incomparable Elizabeth Montez IBCLC and our two guest speakers Diana Mena, licensed clinical activist and social justice worker, and Jamie Weber, clinical social worker and licensed mental health therapist. With the support of Best Starts for Kids and Maritz Family Foundation, each cohort member was provided with a lactation manual created by Elizabeth Montez, a BIPOC lactation demonstration doll, and a mammary model.
