A Juneteenth Prayer for Justice and Hope God of Liberation and Light, On this Juneteenth, we remember the long night of bondage and the dawning of freedom in Galveston, Texas, in 1865. We give thanks for the resilience of our ancestors, who clung to faith when justice was delayed, and who praised You even when the chains had not yet fallen. Lord, in this present moment—when truth is contested, history is rewritten, and the dignity of Black lives is too often denied—we cry out for Your justice.
