He volunteered delivering meals to Senior citizens and the homebound, Scouting, church, civic improvements, animal rescue and care. The Shortridge Family Foundation was created to honor his memory by offering grants for basic needs & services, arts & humanities, education, health & sports, and civic improvements to the Nederland Mountain Community.
