According to CDC provisional data, Alabama saw a decline of 18. 24% in drug overdose deaths between July 2023 and July 2024. One local indicator of this trend comes from Huntsville, where overdoses fell from 502 in 2023 to 343 in 2024, with fatal overdoses decreasing from 63 to 31.
