The Settlement Home for Children is a private, licensed nonprofit that cares for children who come from abusive and neglectful backgrounds. Through a variety of services and programs, we are able to meet the specific needs of each individual we serve. Our mission is to promote healing and growth in children, young adults and their families by providing a continuum of care, support and resources. We serve individuals who have experienced severe emotional trauma, abuse and neglect.

On this day in 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, bringing a momentous change: the emancipation of enslaved individuals. Today, we come together to celebrate Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day—a powerful reminder of resilience, hope and the ongoing journey toward equality.
