#HospitalWeek is about celebrating and giving thanks to the many Associates who are vital in ensuring our hospital provides high quality, nationally recognized care to our patients and community, every day. This year, our celebration theme was “Summer Camp at PVHMC,” and we were able to provide In-N-Out meals, themed desserts and fun, camp-related activities for our Associates, including a bead keychain- and bracelet-making station, a scavenger hunt, outdoor games, a photobooth and more. Our nearly 3,700 Associates and 600 Physicians are the heart and soul of our hospital – they are skilled caregivers, knowledgeable experts, experienced mentors, comforting guardians and so much more. On this Trauma Survivor’s Day, we honor our patients’ stories of resilience, hope and recovery 💙 Meet Marcello Prieto, 53, a motorcycle accident survivor and amputee whose journey is nothing short of inspiring. After his life-changing accident in 2023, Marcello endured challenges that tested his strength and spirit. Thanks to the enduring love and support of his village (his family), the care of our trauma team and his own hard work and determination, he regained his independence and sought to find purpose in helping others. Today, Marcello volunteers as part of our Patient and Family Advisory Committee, visiting patients in our Trauma Intensive Care Unit and offering them hope, empathy and encouragement for a bright future. His story reminds us that no matter the obstacles, life’s milestones are still worth celebrating. "If you can’t take a full step, take a half step. If you can’t take a half step, take a quarter step.
