So, a student asked if we had a pencil sharpener. I pointed, with great enthusiasm, to the classic wall-mounted manual sharpener (btw-thanks MrJ). He looked confused, then burst out laughing like he’d just discovered an ancient artifact. 😄 Yes, the electric sharpener was right there on the shelf… but pointing to the wall sharpener was way more fun for me. After a quick demo, he gave it a try and then gave me a big smile. 😁 It was a lighthearted reminder of how much things have changed between generations. While Gen X grew up cranking out sharp pencils by hand, today’s students are used to plug-and-play everything.
