The Black School is a Black-centered experimental art school operating in the 7th Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. We teach Black, POC and allied students to become agents of change in their communities through art & design education and programming based in African diasporic histories, prioritizing local communities. We believe that art and activism can transform social realities and that a more just and equitable future is possible when we harness our creativity as a force of positive impact. It is our mission to apply experimental and iterative creative problem solving processes to real world issues facing our communities. Our programs include the Design Apprenticeship, Garden School, Black Love Festival and more.
