Free Chipping Program is Back! Summit County is helping YOU protect your home from wildfire! They offer free chipping and disposal for conifer and aspen branches, logs, and small trees. Just clear the woody vegetation around your home, stack it properly, and they'll chip and haul it away—at no cost to you. 🌲 Since 2014, our Summit County Chipping Program has helped residents remove more than 19,800 piles and over 54,000 cubic yards of wildfire fuel. That’s real progress—and it’s thanks to you. How it works: ✔️ Stack your piles by 8 a.m. Monday of your neighborhood’s chipping week ✔️ Place stacks within 5 feet of the roadway (but not on the road or in ditches) ✔️ Piles must be no more than 5' high x 5' wide, with trunks and branches no longer than 10 feet ✔️ Limit 10 piles per property 🗓️ For your neighborhood’s schedule and full guidelines, visit: https://www.summitcountyco.gov/services/community_development/csu_extension/forest_health/chipping_program.php (fb)
