Home - Volunteering For Oakland A neighborhood group that initiates facilitates and supports a variety of opportunities for citizens to become involved in positive community action now focusing on Dictionary Day. Coming Together Working Together Making A Difference Volunteering For Oakland VFO is now focused on our Dictionary Day project. Third grade is the target year for growing literacy. Literacy encompasses more than just words language and usage.

Volunteering For Oakland (VFO) is thrilled to be back in Oakland elementary classrooms and needs your help to buy dictionaries for Oakland third graders. Our volunteers are on track to give dictionaries to 19 Oakland schools before years end. Our goal is to raise $4,000 by December to provide more dictionaries for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year.
