About A New Organization for a Beloved Venture The Maritime Music Tradition Society is a nonprofit organization founded in 2021 for the purpose of preserving and encouraging maritime and traditional music through education research performance and community. We are performers scholars and enthusiasts of the music of the sea actively engaged in furthering the purposes of our organization. We are sailors landlubbers teachers and students of the history and lore of the sea rivers and inland waters from the Age of Sail until the present. We presented the Connecticut Sea Music Festival annually in the historic Connecticut town of Essex.
