Open Earth Foundation

The Open Earth Foundation is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the development and deployment of open-source digital systems for environmental resilience. Founded in 2020, it focuses on leveraging emerging technologies such as AI (Artificial Intelligence), Blockchain, and IoT (Internet of Things) to foster scalability in climate solutions at a planetary level.

Mission

The foundation aims to enhance planetary resilience by harnessing these technologies in an open and decentralized manner. It emphasizes human collaboration and systems thinking to address complex environmental challenges, striving to catalyze exponential changes needed to mitigate environmental catastrophes.

Programs and Initiatives

Open Earth Foundation is involved in several initiatives, including the development of comprehensive GHG (Greenhouse Gas) inventories for cities and the promotion of carbon pricing tools. One notable project is CityCatalyst, which supports local governments in their climate action journeys through innovative digital tools.

OpenClimate

The foundation is also developing OpenClimate, an open-source, digitally integrated climate accounting system designed to help achieve the emission reduction targets set in the Paris Agreement. This includes digital carbon pricing tools to guide sustainable investments.

Governance and Funding

Open Earth Foundation operates as a 501(c)(3) organization, making donations tax-deductible. It relies primarily on contributions and investment income for its operations. The organization's governance includes a diverse board of directors and key personnel.

Impact
