Prison Journalism Project Incorporated
We train incarcerated writers to be journalists and publish their stories We train incarcerated writers to become journalists and publish their stories. Prison Journalism Project (PJP) is an independent, national nonprofit initiative that trains incarcerated writers to be journalists and publishes their stories, so they can shift the narrative and serve as powerful voices in the broader conversation about the prison legal system across the U.S. and in their local communities. We offer a five-stage training and professional progression grounded in strengthening literacy skills and other workforce readiness skills that can be applied directly to future employment. Our stories aim to bring more diverse and different perspectives, reflecting the world inside the criminal legal system in all its complexity, countering oversimplification and polarization. We aim to serve as moderators of a constructive public dialogue.
