Objectives and Activities

Citizens for Responsible Land Use We are Concerned Citizens of the Greater Asheville Area PreserveElk Mountain We are citizens of the Greater Asheville Area We are pleased to report that the property we have been working to protect from development has been purchased by a consortium of neighbors and the grandfathered condominium development application we have challenged is no longer a threat. Any future use of the property will be subject to all current land use regulations of the Town of Woodfin including the steep slope ordinance. BACKGROUND Hundreds of area residents have joined forces to form Citizens for Responsible Land Use CRLU an organization focused on promoting conservationoriented landuse policies in steepslope areas of North Asheville and Woodfin. While the overall purpose of the organization is ensuring the adoption of responsible landuse policies across these communities the initial vital issue driving our formation was the proposed Cornerstone development on steep slope areas of the portions of Killian and Reynolds Mountains that adjoin the ridge line of Elk Mountain.
