Texas Occupational Therapy Foundation
The Texas Occupational Therapy Foundation (TOTF) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization incorporated in the State of Texas in 1996. TOTF works in coordination with the Texas Occupational Therapy Association (TOTA) to support the advancement of occupational therapy practices.
Mission and Objectives
The Foundation's primary objectives are to increase scholarly inquiry in occupational therapy, enhance evidence-based practices, and increase public awareness about the profession. It aims to support and promote research specifically developed by Texas occupational therapy practitioners.
Grants
TOTF offers an annual grant competition for Texas occupational therapists (OTs). To date, the Foundation has provided several grants, all of which have been successfully completed. Each grant recipient is expected to present their research findings at a TOTA conference.
Dissemination
In collaboration with TOTA's Annual Conference, TOTF sponsors a Research Forum where research papers are presented, followed by a poster session and discussion groups on topics related to practice and research. The Foundation has featured prominent speakers in the field, including Betty Abreu, Winnie Dunn, Kitty Reed, Helen Cohen, and Joan Rogers.
Fundraising
Funds for the Foundation are raised through various events such as scholarly breakfasts, auctions, and the sale of selected publications. Additionally, TOTF accepts donations to support its mission and activities.
