Since 1972 we've focused our efforts primarily on populations that have traditionally lacked legal protection such as women, people of color, LGBTQ individuals, immigrants, and people with limited English proficiency.

We don't have to wonder how the Medi-Cal asset limit will affect Californians: we’ve seen its devastating effects in our communities for decades. The $2,000 asset limit—set in 1989, when $2,000 went much farther—forced older adults and people with disabilities to face an impossible choice: live in extreme poverty or lose Medi-Cal coverage.
