Recently, we gathered at LA Cocina de Gloria Molina for an intimate cooking conversation and tasting led by culinary historian and ArtBites founder Maite Gomez-Rejón. The evening, inspired by Sor Juana’s cookbook, was full of surprises! We were blown away by how delicious the mole recipe was—made with unexpected ingredients like pineapple, bananas, and sweet potato! No wonder it was created by one of the most brilliant minds of 17th-century New Spain. This event was part of the National Museum of Mexican Art’s 31st annual Sor Juana Festival, honoring one of Mexico’s greatest writers, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz.
