St. Andrews Crippled Children's Clinic, Inc.
Nonprofit organization in Nogales, Arizona providing free medical attention to children in Mexico. In 1973 Dr. Mark Frankel, an orthopedic surgeon of Tucson came to Nogales, Sonora to visit some children in need. He continued to come to Nogales monthly thereby forming the clinic. In 1976 the Clinic moved to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Nogales, Arizona and more specialists joined. In 1990 the Clinic incorporated and received its 501(c)(3) status. Now, on the first Thursday of every month about 250 children from Mexico desend upon the church and are treated by orthopedic surgeons, pediatricians, neurologists, dermatologists who are assisted by various therapists; speech, physical, occupational, nutrition, and audeology. The Clinic also has over 100 volunteers who do many chores; driving, interpreting, feeding, clerical duties and generally loving these special kids. Surgeries and other testing are done through the University of Arizona College of Medicine. The Clinic is also used by the college as a training point for medical students.
