Meet Rehan Jaweed, Sports Coordinator! “To me, being part of the AAPI community means being connected to many cultures and traditions. It’s about respecting the past, celebrating who we are, and growing together.” As an Indian American and practicing Muslim, Rehan draws strength from his roots. Whether it’s gathering with family for Eid-al-Fitr or enjoying pani puri, his culture has shaped him with values like honesty, humility, and compassion. Growing up, Rehan looked up to athletes like Jeremy Lin and Hines Ward—people who showed him that Asian Americans can thrive on the big stage. Now, as our Sports Coordinator, he’s proud to be that kind of role model for the next generation, creating space, celebrating identity, and helping youth feel a strong sense of belonging. Congratulations to the Together Rising Los Angeles (TRLA) cohort members!     After 9 months, 11 of 14 apprentices were honored by the Child, Family and Education Studies Department at East Los Angeles College (ELAC) for earning their Child Development Associate Teacher Skills Certificate. 👏🏽 This recognition celebrates their incredible dedication, hard work, and commitment to growing as early learning and expanded learning professionals—all while balancing work, school, and family.   As Southern California’s first registered apprenticeship for early childhood educators and expanded learning professionals, TRLA is an innovative approach to supporting individuals as they pursue higher education, while navigating the complexities of life. The program combines paid work experience, no cost college course work, and dedicated training and mentorship to support the college and career growth of each apprentice.    We’re so proud of what this cohort has accomplished, and even more excited for what’s ahead.
