Here follows the English translation of the post: I had the pleasure of meeting online with Mrs. Eftychia/Linda Carol Trotter-President and Panagiota Vrisiotis-Vice President of the EftychiaProject. Eftychia was adopted from Greece abroad as an infant, during one of the most difficult periods in our history. She found her biological family in Greece in June 2017. The emotion of this reunion prompted her to create the Eftychia Project, an organization that helps other adopted Greeks search for their roots, find their truth, and re-establish their legal and emotional bond with Greece. In a Greece that was trying to get back on its feet after World War II and the Civil War, thousands of children were adopted by families abroad. Many of these children who left never forgot their homeland and are fighting to regain their citizenship. We discussed the positive developments in the case after the issuance of the relevant Ministerial Decision, as well as issues related to the Citizenship of adopted children, as well as broader issues that fall within the competence of our Secretariat. The new Ministerial Decision determines the necessary supporting documents for registration, correction, change or addition of data to the civil registry of children adopted by foreign citizens until the entry into force of Law 344/1976, so that they can regain their Greek citizenship. Our Secretariat has stood by this very sensitive case from the very beginning and we are committed to making every effort to assist those concerned in all matters within our competence. Finally, I note their very moving words. They told me characteristically that they never believed they would live to see this moment. But today they feel that Greece recognizes them, embraces them and stands by them. We continue our efforts! (fb)
