According to the 2024 Point-in-Time Count (PIT), approximately 221 Idahoans were experiencing homelessness, in Southeast Idaho alone. Factors contributing to homelessness in our region include a shortage of affordable housing, rising living costs, and limited access to essential services. Many individuals facing homelessness are employed but still unable to secure stable housing. ​What many call, ‘One crisis away from being homeless.’ How we at IFRM help... The Idaho Falls Rescue Mission (IFRM) plays a vital role in addressing homelessness in the community by operating three shelters:​ City of Refuge: Men’s Shelter Ruth House: Women’s Shelter Haven: Family Shelter We’re grateful to be able to provide shelter for over 100 individuals on any given night. We wanted to take a moment to share an inside look at what happens when someone comes to Idaho Falls Rescue Mission in need of help. To give you a more personal look, here is a short virtual tour led by Tim Conklin, our City of Refuge Shelter Program Manager and Assistant Pastor. In it, he walks through one of our shelters and the donation center, offering a glimpse into how your support is making a real impact. *********************************************************************** We don’t just serve those staying in our shelters. If we can help prevent or offset a homeless situation, we do. That includes case management to help you get connected with helpful resources and create a plan of action, assistance with obtaining essential documents like driver’s licenses, IDs, and birth certificates—often critical for securing employment. We also provide food boxes to help reduce grocery costs, a hot dinner every night for anyone in need, and access to clothing and hygiene kits for individuals and families experiencing hardship. In 2024, with the support of people like you, we’ve been able to provide: ✅ 843 Total Guests Sheltered ✅ 47,711 Total Meals Served ✅ 9,673 Total Items of Clothing ✅ 20,484 Total Safe Nights of Sleep ✅ 6,323 Total Volunteer Hours ✅ 1,146 Total Hours of Case Management ✅ 94,022 Essential Resources Given Every meal, every night of rest, every act of kindness—it all makes a difference!
