Yakima Heart Safe Initiative

Serving the Pacific Northwest by establishing public access defibrillator (AED) programs through education, subsidizing or granting AEDs and associated equipment for those who could not otherwise afford them with a concentration on law enforcement, youth, and adult organized sports venues, and neighborhood watch programs. Public education to those willing to be citizen first responders in the community or workspace and empowering/equipping them to respond. After a sudden cardiac arrest, facilitate aftercare and emotional support to all citizen responders and those who witnessed the event, including family or coworkers. It is vital that this step become a norm because even a successful resuscitation is a traumatic event to all on the scene involved.
