Meet our Fellow, Ryann Fineberg! Ryann is a 17-year-old future of food enthusiast from Toronto, Canada. She hopes to play a role in creating food systems that are better for people, animals, and the planet and believes that cultivated meat has the potential to do exactly that. Ryann’s contributions to this emerging field stem from her passion for animal and environmental protection. She is a Research Assistant at the University of Toronto Law School, where she works with Professor Angela Fernandez on the Brooks Animal Law Digest’s Canadian edition, read by hundreds of animal law professionals. She has also interned with Animal Justice, Canada’s only animal legal advocacy organization. At the age of fourteen, Ryann consulted for global eco-conscious skincare company, The Body Shop, and worked with high-level executives to increase youth involvement within the company. One year later, she attended COP15 as one of its youngest delegates and was featured on The Body Shop’s Instagram page with 2M+ followers. With a passion for public speaking, Ryann presented at the Eighth Annual Oxford Animal Ethics Summer School and the Fifth Annual Canadian Animal Law Conference about using social media as a tool to engage youth in advocating for animals. She has also delivered a TEDx Talk about youth involvement in the future of food.
