The Sri Lanka Association of New England Inc., commonly abbreviated as SLANE, is a nonprofit organization established on September 26, 1998, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It was founded by approximately 50 Sri Lankans with the aim of fostering social, cultural, educational, and recreational activities among Sri Lankans and their friends living in New England.

Mission and Objectives

SLANE's mission is multifaceted:

• To provide a forum for promoting social, cultural, educational, and recreational activities.
• To foster friendship, goodwill, peace, and unity among Sri Lankans in Massachusetts and neighboring states.
• To sustain Sri Lankan cultural traditions in the U.S. and promote Sri Lankan culture.

• To organize social, welfare, and cultural activities for the benefit of Sri Lankans.
• To welcome and support newly arriving Sri Lankans, particularly students.

1. Discover Sri Lanka Program: This program is held in the spring and is designed for youth.
