Ezekiel's Gift of Love Coachella Valley Down Syndrome Foundation

Ezekiel's Gift of Love Coachella Valley Down Syndrome Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in the Coachella Valley, California. The foundation was established to provide support, education, and hope to individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the broader community.

History

The foundation was incorporated on January 26, 2017, and gained 501(c)(3) nonprofit status on March 10, 2017. It was inspired by Ezekiel Jeremiah, who was born in July 2015 with a confirmed diagnosis of Trisomy 21, or Down syndrome. His mother played a key role in founding the organization to address the needs of families in similar situations.

Mission and Vision

The mission of Ezekiel's Gift of Love is to create a supportive environment where individuals with Down syndrome and their families can find comfort, resources, and community connections. The foundation aims to empower these families by providing factual information, support groups, educational workshops, and social events. Its vision is to unite and empower the Down syndrome community, emphasizing that families are not alone in their journey.

Activities

One of the foundation's notable initiatives is the presentation of "Gift of Love" baskets to local families with newborns diagnosed with Down syndrome. These baskets include practical items to help families cope with the early stages of the diagnosis. Additionally, the foundation collaborates on projects to raise awareness and celebrate the achievements of individuals with Down syndrome, such as a billboard campaign highlighting their heroic strength and a photo project with Lisandro Rivera Photography during Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

Impact

Through its efforts, Ezekiel's Gift of Love not only supports families in the Coachella Valley but also contributes to broader societal awareness and acceptance of Down syndrome. By fostering a community of support and understanding, the foundation helps to ensure that individuals with Down syndrome and their families have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
