Please pray for our lead missionary, Dr. Paul Whisnant, see this message from him below: Thank you for praying for me! I truly believe that nothing beats the incredible power of prayer. My health update can be summed up in these four simple words: happy, slowly, praying, and planning. I am: • Happy to be out of the hospital, and I haven’t had to go back to the ER in over a week. • Slowly recovering, but not “out of the woods” yet, still seeing doctors. • Praying for kidney function to improve (don't want to end up on dialysis), and my body is physically exhausted from fighting these nasty infections for so long. • Planning to return to Belize in a couple of weeks (whenever I’m physically able) to go back to the missionary work He has called me to. I deeply appreciate your prayers! Your Belize Missionary, Paul (fb)
Please pray for our lead missionary, Dr. Paul Whisnant, see this message from him below: Thank you for praying for me! I truly believe that our God answers the prayers of His people. As I mentioned on Monday, two and a half weeks ago I had to unexpectedly fly back from Belize due to an urgent medical emergency, which landed me in the Emergency Room (ER), with a urinary catheter, resulting in having to see multiple medical specialists, including a surgeon. My first time around in the ER was due to suffering from acute urinary retention. It's hard to believe I had one liter of urine in my bladder! Had to have a urinary catheter for 5 days (not fun). Unfortunately, this led to a complicated urinary infection. Despite being treated with oral antibiotics for 5 days, I started spiking a fever of 104.9, which sent me back to the ER for sepsis (still on antibiotics). I am currently battling a nasty infection called Serratia Marcescens. My body feels completely exhausted. Today is Good Friday, so it's appropriate that I have some good news to share with you. The doctor says it will take awhile for me to feel 100% better because of these back to back health scares, but I am slowly heading in the right direction. And, on another positive note, I've lost 10 lbs in the last two and a half weeks. All glory to our God who is the great healer! Things I'm thankful for: - Being able to fly to the U.S. to seek treatment. Belize healthcare isn’t great, I’ve been hospitalized there before. - YOU. Friends and family who pray. - Our God who hears, sees and heals. - My hip is slowly healing (from an injury 2 years ago) so I hopefully won't have to have hip replacement surgery. Prayer requests: - For improved kidney function (don't want to end up on dialysis). - For my persistent nightly fever to go away. - For the neck surgery (from an injury 2 years ago) I'll eventually need. Financial requests: - We are currently short $4,700 on the funds we need to feed the children this month (designate: Feed A Child). - I have U.S. health insurance, but will still owe thousands out of pocket (designate: Dr. Paul Whisnant & family). - By the way, I'll receive a copy of all donations, so I look forward to thanking you personally. Have a great Easter as you celebrate our risen Savior! P.S. Please keep praying, I'm not "out of the woods" quite yet. But I'm currently hoping to return to Belize in 3 weeks to continue the missionary work that He has called me to. (fb)
