Read 2 Lead
Read 2 Lead is a nonprofit organization that seeks to improve youth literacy rates by encouraging a love of reading. In 2015, Read 2 Lead began with a local book drive, when its founder, Samantha Boateng was a 16-year-old high school senior, that led to the collection of over 14,000 books. Since then, Read 2 Lead has opened two libraries in Ghana that serve over 10,000 students and their families. Read 2 Lead is currently building its third library that will nearly double its reach within the community. Along with building community libraries, Read 2 Lead hosts a variety of events that foster community including: academic quizbowl competitions, fun fairs, reading camps, and creative workshops.
