Outdoor Recreation Education

Outdoor Recreation Education (ORE) is a non-profit 501(c)3 public benefit corporation created to promote healthy outdoor recreation. We aim to teach young people the skills they need to go hiking, climbing and backpacking in our national forests, national parks, and other public lands, and we aim to teach a sense of responsibility for these shared resources. Young people today need more opportunities to connect with nature, to be physically active and to engage with the world around them. It’s good for the individual—connecting with the natural world leads to better mental, emotional and physical health throughout life. And it’s good for society—first-hand knowledge of natural ecosystems inclines us to make better decisions as citizens and consumers.
