This is from one of our Hawaiian visionaries and leaders, Kaleikoa Kaʻeo. Though he is talking about another very important layer of lāhui building, these sentiments also are true in our contributions to supporting communities in their advocacy for community-driven initiatives like Natural Resource Management, Fisheries Management, Watershed restoration, Cultural Site Preservation, amongst many other things. When building these community-driven movements sometimes we need to set the specific goals aside at first and just wake our communities up... not only "...to humanity, to their own worth, and to their heritage"... but also to each other.
