Young leaders worldwide are taking bold climate action! 🌍 We are honored to announce the Project Green Challenge 2024 Champion, Godfred Owusu, from Ghana. A student at Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Godfred is a passionate climate activist from the Ashanti region. His journey during Project Green Challenge deepened his awareness of environmental issues and empowered him to create real solutions for his community. Godfred's Climate Action Project, Kumasi Waste Free Project, tackles plastic pollution by establishing a sustainable recycling model that empowers communities, fosters entrepreneurship, and transforms plastic waste into bins, desks, and reusable bags — all while promoting a circular economy and environmental stewardship. PGC 2024 Second Place Winner is Mahmudur Rahman from Bangladesh. A fourth-year Environmental Sciences student from Dhaka, Mahmud has long been inspired by nature and rural life. His Climate Action Project, AquaRevive, addresses the growing crisis of seawater intrusion caused by shrimp aquaculture. The initiative promotes eco-friendly farming, alternative livelihoods, and sustainable agriculture to combat salinity and support coastal communities and biodiversity. PGC 2024 Third Place is Sarah Q from Connecticut, USA, a high school student at Westover School. Sarah’s Climate Action Project, Style Cycle, confronts the harmful impacts of fast fashion, which contributes 10% of global CO₂ emissions. Her initiative established a campus Swap Shop that promotes conscious consumption, redefines fashion culture, and builds community through clothing reuse. The judges awarded Honorary Mentions to Anjali Doria from Tennessee, USA and Marria Peduto from Washington, USA. Huge congratulations to all of the #PGC2024 Finalists for such inspiring Climate Action Projects, vision, heart, leadership, and commitment to local and global sustainability. We can't wait to continue working together to effect positive change. Learn more about PGC and join the movement at projectgreenchallenge.com! (fb)
