Here’s a fact: There’s no humane way to slaughter horses. Their sensitive and skittish nature means they are very difficult to render unconscious, prolonging their suffering. The fear and distress horses experience in the slaughterhouse environment often leads to panic, increasing the risk of serious injury before they are slaughtered. That's why we need to pass the Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act, which would permanently ban domestic horse slaughter in the U.S. and stop the export of American horses for slaughter abroad.
