NATIONAL RESCUE DOG DAY🐶🎉❤️ Today, we celebrate adopters and rescue dogs everywhere! Each year at HAP, we welcome thousands of animals into our care, hoping for a second chance. These pups come to us from all walks of life, often rescued from neglect, abandonment, or unsafe conditions. National Rescue Dog Day raises awareness about the importance of adoption, supports the incredible work of rescue organizations, and encourages people to open their hearts and homes to dogs in need. Whether you adopt, foster, volunteer, or donate, your support can change a rescue dog’s life forever! By choosing to adopt, you help decrease the demand for dogs from puppy mills and backyard breeders, ultimately reducing the number of dogs euthanized in shelters each year. While Delaware is proudly a no-kill state, it remains one of the few. Across the country, many shelters are overcrowded due to irresponsible and unethical breeding practices, often leaving them with heartbreaking decisions to make. A CAT’S CAT🐱🐾🧡 This #HAPMeowyMonday we are introducing our confident calico lady, Pumpkin Patch! Pumpkin is about 1.5 years old and full of playful energy! She came to HAP when she was found as a stray momma with her kittens. Her babies have all been adopted, and now it's her turn to find a forever home! Pumpkin can be a little standoffish when she first meets people but is easily won over by a tasty treat or some playtime. Once she warms up and gets to know you, she's a real sweetheart and happy to show off her affectionate side! Additionally, Pumpkin is a certified cat’s cat, as she loves the company of other felines. She is looking for a home that already has a friendly, playful kitty or an adopter willing to take her along with a feline friend. She enjoys playing with her cat and human pals alike, and if no one’s around, she’s perfectly content to entertain herself like the independent queen she is. While she prefers the company of cats, she’ll also grace her human companions with a loving nuzzle or curl up next to them for a cozy nap!
