Today commemorates Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Women’s Equal Pay Day in 2025. April 3 was chosen as it signifies how long it takes for AANHPI women to earn the same amount that white men earned in the previous year. For example, AANHPI women would have to work until April 3, 2024, to earn the same as white men earned in 2023. Due to the compounded effects of sexism and racism, wage gaps hinder the agency and autonomy of women, hurt their economic security, and are simply unethical. What can we all do to facilitate change? 📢Urge Congress to pass the Equal Fairness Act to strengthen protections for women and close the existing loopholes in the Equal Pay Act of 1963. 💻Participate in digital advocacy to raise awareness of the wage gap through social media initiatives and local events. 💓Donate to organizations that support equal pay and economic independence, such as the ‘Equal Pay Today’ campaign and Dress for Success!
