With heavy hearts, we share that our beloved facility dog, Sawyer, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully in his sleep this week at the age of nine. 🐾 For nearly seven wonderful years, Sawyer was an essential part of Scotty’s House. More than just a coworker, Sawyer was everyone’s friend. He sat beside children during their most difficult moments — in counseling sessions, while sharing their stories, and even when they had to testify in court. His calm presence, gentle eyes, and soft fur brought comfort, courage, and a sense of safety to every child who walked through our doors. Sawyer had a gift for making people feel at ease. He greeted everyone with quiet warmth, always ready for a good back or booty scratch. With every good scratch he left behind a trail of “Sawyer sparkles” — his signature blonde hair — as a reminder of his love. And when it was time to rest, no one enjoyed a good nap quite like Sawyer. He was more than a dog — he was a constant source of love, reassurance, and quiet strength in our work. We will miss him dearly, and we know so many of you will too.
