Last night, Big Sur Fire responded to a late night vehicle rollover west of Highway 1 near the Point Sur Lighthouse. The driver was uninjured and able to self extricate prior to the vehicle catching on fire. Crews swiftly extinguished the vehicle fire (which was fully involved) as well as the surrounding vegetation. The fire spread was limited to about 50ft x 50ft in thick ice plant and shore grasses. Big Sur Fire crews responded with an engine and water tender. CHP and AMR also responded to the incident as well as an engine from Cal Fire. The vehicle was recovered the next day by California Tow. We are grateful for our volunteer firefighters that responded at a moments notice and additionally thankful to our allied agencies for their response! (fb)
