Mental Health Awareness Month is about more than raising awareness—it’s about building connection. At the Mental Health & Addiction Association of Oregon, we know that community is at the heart of healing. Mental health challenges can be isolating, but recovery doesn’t happen alone. It happens in safe, supportive spaces—where people are welcomed as they are and reminded they’re not in this alone. That’s why we center peer-delivered services across all of our programs. Our team of peer support specialists bring lived experience, deep compassion, and an unwavering belief in what’s possible. They walk beside people on their path to recovery—not ahead, not behind, but WITH them. And that’s why intentional spaces for community, like our Recovery Campus, are so vital. Whether someone is meeting with their peer supporter, looking for connection to services, attending a peer facilitated group, or just needing to be truly seen and heard, they’ll find it here. We’re creating spaces where people can reconnect—with themselves, with others, and with the hope of something better. Recovery starts with relationships. It grows with consistency. And it thrives in community. This Mental Health Awareness Month, we honor every person working toward healing—one day, one connection at a time. 🔗 Get support or learn more: https://mhaoforegon.jotform.com/230465659323156 🔗 Explore additional resources: https://www.samhsa.gov/find-help ———————————- As of September 1, 2025, the Mental Health & Addiction Association of Oregon will become The Peer Company—a name that reflects our belief in peer support, shared experience, and healing in community. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #ConnectionIsCare #PeerSupport #ThePeerCompany #RecoveryHappens #CommunityHealing #MHAAO #LowBarrierSupport #YouAreNotAlone (fb)

Building community in Old Town, one connection at a time 💜🐉 Our Outreach Manager and other team members spent the day at the Return of the Dragon Festival with local police and community partners—deepening relationships so we can better work together to meet folks where they’re at. Old Town is full of history, culture, and people who matter. We’re proud to be part of the heart work happening here every day. #OldTownPortland #ReturnOfTheDragon #CommunityCare #OutreachInAction #MHAAO #StrongerTogether #connection #PeerSupport #PortlandEvents (fb)

HELPING REAL PEOPLE WITH REAL STUFF What is peer support. Peer Support is a persontoperson approach to recovery where real people use their experiences to guide and empower others at the start of their journey. Its about meeting people where theyre at and building the trust and connection that make it easier to face the challenges of recovery. Our Peer Support Specialists are advocates for peers and can help them access the services and resources they need on their road to success.
